[Watch] Metal Gear Survive Trailer Shows Hammers, Traps, and… Metal Gear Ray?

Metal Gear Survive is coming soon to a mixed audience response. That means trailers galore. Previously, we saw the game’s single-player trailer which featured new characters, mechanics, and story. Today, Konami released a co-op trailer that shows off the various weapons, traps, and other zombie-killing devices.

The trailer, featuring The Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet, is a not-so-subtle zombie slaughter. It shows multiple players working together, mowing down groups of zombies (or as Konami insists upon, “Wanderers”) and building their base up to be well-fortified. They use things like hammers, assault rifles, pistols, bow and arrows, various explosives, mounted guns, and at the end of the trailer… is that… Metal Gear Ray?

Apparently, Konami doesn’t care about continuity anymore. Metal Gear Ray first appears in Metal Gear Solid 2, set in 2009, but now it’s running around in the alternate dimension 70s/80s? Apparently, wormholes also travel through time, so this isn’t the worst thing to happen to the franchise. To be fair, Ray does look pretty cool blasting through crystal-headed monstrosities.

The beta is out now For PS4 and Xbox One with some users actually enjoying it, while others like GameZone’s Cade Onder found it lackluster and a couple steps backward. Metal Gear Survive is set to release on February 20 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game will require an always-on connection to the internet.
