[Watch] Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Video Shows Off Nemesis System and Visual-Changing Forts

Yet another video emerges, showcasing features for the upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of War from Monolith Productions. This one is from IGN. This video shows off the new Nemesis System and Nemesis fortresses.

The video shows that each fort has its own level, much like individual Uruk-hai had in Shadow of Mordor. This number is a total from each captain, bodyguard, and war chief in the hold, as well as other factors. The example fortress has a level of 162. The video shows how one can widdle down that number in an exciting way that only the Middle-earth series can do.

They start by assassinating one of the war chiefs. Killing the war chiefs underneath the Warlord (the leader of the fort) not only weakens the fort, but it also weakens the tribe associated with the victim. Tribes are a new feature in Shadow of War. Forts are made up of a number of enemies from different tribes. Weakening a tribe can essentially make any Uruk that spawns from that tribe weaker.

Once a fort is conquered, you take over the region and can install your own Warlord. This not only changes the fortress, but it also changes the wilderness in the entire region. Shadow of Mordor has a dynamic story in that your nemesis would be a different Uruk every playthrough, directly related to how you played the game. Shadow of War literally lets you personally craft your own regions in Mordor.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is set to launch for Xbox One, PC, and PS4 on August 22, 2017.
