[Watch] Netflix releases Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events trailer

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events is making another comeback to your screen, this time as a Netflix-exclusive TV series, and Neil Patrick Harris stars as the hilariously evil Count Olaf. After their parents perish in a house fire, the Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are assigned to live with a guardian (Count Olaf) who will stop at nothing to acquire their inheritance.

The first season will be eight episodes long and will encompass the events of the first four books, The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, The Wide Window, and The Miserable Mill. Each book will represent two episodes of the season, and it will be available starting on Friday, January 13th, 2017. Yes, it appears that the release date was intentional (Friday the 13th).

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events released a film by the same name back in December of 2004, with Jim Carrey as Count Olaf. The film ended up grossing $213 million at the box office, but after some corporate shakeups at Paramount, a sequel never got off the ground after its promising start. So pretty much, Netflix is giving us a reboot.
