[Watch] New Conan Exiles features shown off via livestream, exclusive digital comic announced

Conan Exiles is one of the most anticipated open-world survival games right now, and a lot of that has to do with the lore it bases itself in. To this point, most, if not all open-world survival games have built their own worlds, which has worked out well considering how each one of the games starts you out; naked with nothing to your name and no context of where you are and how you fit into the world around you. This is going to be the tricky thing that developer Funcom will have to tackle, but in the meantime, I have to admit that the game looks pretty great.

Today, the developers hosted their second live stream of the game, this time showcasing the game's Thrall system. The Thrall system involves the player capturing enemy bandits, then dragging them back to their camp. You then crush their will via the Wheel of Pain, and afterward you can turn these "thralls" into guards, archers, blacksmiths, tanners, and other crafters that can unlock unique new recipes for your own personal base. Pretty cool right?

On top of that, Funcom has also announced a partnership with Dark Horse Comics, in which the successful comic publisher will produce an exclusive digital comic based on the game. The comic will give fans a look at events that take place just before the outset of the game, so there's some nice backstory and added context to be gained. Funcom and Dark Horse also revealed the cover for the comic, which you can see below.

Conan Exiles has undergone some pretty significant changes since its Pre-Alpha trailer, the feedback of which resulted in a massive overhaul of the game's visuals. Things are looking pretty good as the game is set to hit Steam Early Access on January 31st, 2017.
