[Watch] New Marvel’s The Defenders Trailer Looks Like A Gritty, Street-Level Avengers

Marvel has been killing it on their Netflix series. Daredevil was an absolute blowout when both seasons released, Jessica Jones was respected for its different approach to a superhero story, Cage was loved for its portrayal of a beloved character, and Ironfist… well, it did okay. But Marvel isn't done yet. Today, they announced Marvel's The Defenders coming to Netflix.

The trailer shows what the heroes have been up to since we last saw them. They all meet each other for the first time on the streets and eventually decide they should team up.

The whole trailer plays like a gritty, street-level Avengers. Because we've spent an entire season (or in Daredevil's case, two) getting to know these characters, we know the burdens they carry, giving the trailer much more weight.

We still don't know much about the season, though the trailer does plenty to cause hype. The series will launch on Netflix on August 18, 2017.
