"It's Madden season! It's Madden season!"
Every year, it never ceases to amuse me, the look on an NFL rookie's face when the cold hard truth of his Madden overall rating is revealed to him — shock, bewilderment, anger. It's absolutely great and this year it's no different as some of the top players from this year's rookie class were invited for a sneak peek at their overall.
As per usual, this year's rookie class exuberates confidence. We get your typical mid-to-high 80s predictions, but none are better than Pittsburgh Steelers' Sammie Coates bold prediction of 90. Well, when they finally get the envelopes with their real ratings, well, just watch.
It's safe to say that most overalls were probably much lower than what the players expected, except for maybe number one overall draft pick Jameis Winston who "was close" on his prediction of 82 or 84. I have to say, though, I like the determination of new Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper who guarantees us "that'll go up." And then, of course, we have Coates who threatens to tell his mom on us.
Unfortunately, actual rookie ratings have not been revealed publicly yet, but should come soon with Madden 16's August release right around the corner.
