[Watch] Outcast, a pioneer in open-world gameplay, is getting a remaster; here’s its debut trailer

The return of a cult classic.

While many attribute the rise of open world gameplay to 2001's Grand Theft Auto III, Outcast actually beat Rockstar's legendary game to the party in 1999. Bigben Interactive and Appeal studios are bringing back the cult classic game as a remaster titled Outcast: Second Contact. The duo revealed the game's first trailer earlier today and announced that the game will be releasing this Fall.

In Outcast, players take on the role of Cutter Slade, an ex-Navy SEAL who has been anointed the “Ulukai,” the messiah of an ancient prophecy. All of your choices come with consequences on the balance of the world of Adelpha in a story line where humanity has discovered that they aren't alone in the universe.

Outcast: Second Contact will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One this Fall. If you are a PC player and would like to get a look at what all the fuss is about, and Enhanced version of the original game (as opposed to Remaster) is available on Steam here and retails for only $5.99.
