[Watch] Sea of Thieves developers are not actually the best at their own game

Making games and being good at playing them are two different things.

Fresh off of another Technical Alpha Play Session weekend, Rare has cobbled together another gameplay video of their time on the high seas. As it turns out, a group of Sea of Thieves players are actually far better at the game than the developers are as evidenced by this latest video aptly titled, "This is Unacceptable!" Design Director Mike Chapman, Live Campaign Producer Christina Parker, Executive Producer Joe Neate, and Social Media Manager Emma Bridle teamed up to dig up treasure around the game's open world.

Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.

Upon encountering an enemy ship, the crew naturally decided to attack it despite having a legendary treasure chest in their possession. I'll let you see how things went horribly awry for yourself, but the video is a good example of how open ended your strategies for defeating enemy players in Sea of Thieves can be. It feels like the game gives you the tools, but ultimately it's up to you to cook up whatever battle plan you deem fit, opening the door for a ton of emergent gameplay opportunities.

Sea of Thieves will now be running Technical Alpha play sessions on a weekly basis every Wednesday. If for some reason you can make the weekday play sessions, Rare has assured that the occasional weekend play session will still be a thing, and serve as the primary testing grounds for new features. Rare also revealed details on the game's Voyage System which seeks to add a more meaningful context to your adventures on the high seas.
