Developer Rare Ltd. has been great about giving inside looks into the development of Sea of Thieves, culminating of course, with the Closed Technical Alpha play sessions that they have held on certain weekends. While 8,000 lucky pirates are getting a look at the game's open oceanic world this weekend, Rare has released another behind-the-scenes video on Sea of Thieves. This time, they focus on Sea of Thieves' Voyage System, which is used to enhance the more traditional aspects you would find in most quest systems.
At the beginning of a journey, Rare's goal is to reinforce the idea that you are embarking on an adventure with a real crew. To do this, they've added some integrated introduction visuals which name the voyage you are about to take, as well as to introduce the names of all of the members of the crew. They also go on to talk about how the Voyage System ties into the quests that players can take on, and how the game has grown from the system's integration.
Sea of Thieves is wrapping up another Technical Alpha Play Session this weekend, but if you want a shot at getting into another session in the future, be sure to sign up for the Sea of Thieves Insider Program here.
