Remember that robot named Sophia that was destined to be the end of humanity? Well, she's back and this time, she's a fraction less ominous, but still pretty creepy.
Doctor David Hanson and his team of engineers showed off their robot named Sophia during SXSW earlier this year. Sophia was said to be able to emulate more than 62 facial expressions, (which look mostly human thanks to engineering and a secret recipe for silicon skin). Her 'eyes' are programmed cameras that allow her to 'see' faces, make eye contact and recognize people.
Recently, CBS' Charlie Rose sat down with Sophia to interview her as part of a segment on 60 Minutes. In the interview, it appears as though Doctor Hanson toned down Sophia's expressions, but didn't take out her general creepiness. Sophia made is clear to Rose that she wanted to become smarter than humans and immortal. While Sophia couldn't answer every question Rose threw at her, she did tell Rose that she's been waiting for him…
