[Watch] Spider-Man is releasing this September; Collector’s Edition announced

After being announced at E3 two years ago, we finally know when we can get our hands on Insomniac Games’ PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game. Thanks to exclusive coverage from Game Informer all month long, we’re going to be getting gameplay, interviews from the dev team, and all sorts of great new details including the much-desired release date.

We won’t leave you in suspense, in a new brief trailer filled with new gameplay we learned that Spider-Man is dropping on September 7th, 2018. A bit of a wait, not in the prime of summer as many of us were hoping but at least it’s coming this year! To help make the wait worth it, they will be dropping a few additional skews of the game. You can get a Digital Deluxe edition on the PSN store which will include some digital goodies like suits, missions, and more.

If you’re a dedicate webhead like me and want the best possible version, you can purchase the $149.99 Collector’s Edition which includes a statue of Spider-Man (specific details of it are being kept under wraps right now), an artbook, steelbook case, and all sorts of digital goodies. You can view a screenshot of what’s included below.

As for more details about what we’ll see in the game, Game Informer got some deets about the general set-up of the game. Peter Parker is several years into being Spider-Man, he isn’t a kid learning the ropes (or webs if you will). He’ll actually begin in the classic Spidey suit and then upgrade to the white, red, and blue one we’ve been seeing, reason being specific elements of his suit have been changed to benefit him. The red on his suit are reinforced by armor but Insomniac isn’t detailing why they went with the white spider, perhaps it’s like how Batman uses it as a focal point that’s also reinforced by armor against bullets?

Whatever the case may be, we’ll find out on September 7th, 2018 when Spider-Man releases exclusively on PS4.
