Nintendo had quite the Direct livestream today. Beginning with Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon details and revealing that the Switch will be getting both DOOM and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. One of the console's more unknown exclusives is a little RPG that Square Enix is cooking up in a unique "HD-2D" art style, which is currently going by its working title of Project Octopath Traveler.
Nintendo revealed some new gameplay footage, which you can check out below alongside the announcement that a demo for the game that is available now.
Project Octopath Traveler is being developed by the same team that made Bravely Default on the Nintendo 3DS. Players can jump into the shoes of 8 unique characters, each of which has unique abilities that can interact with the world in different ways that the developers are calling Path Actions. For instance, the Warrior character Olberic can challenge almost any NPC to a duel, which can force someone guarding an area he needs to get into out of his way.
Project Octopath Traveler's big objective is giving players multiple ways to interact with its world and carve out stories, and with eight different characters to choose from, this game is just begging for multiple playthroughs.
