As EA and DICE get ready to officially unveil Star Wars: Battlefront 2's Starfighter gameplay at Gamescom 2017, they have dropped a cinematic in-engine gameplay trailer of what we can expect (embedded above). While it's likely not 100% accurate, like say the fly-by shots of the X-Wings and TIE Fighters or the in-cockpit monologue shots of major characters, there are glimpses of the gameplay as well as hints towards game mechanics like being able to pilot Darth Vader's TIE Fighter or dogfight as Yoda.
It's clear that DICE is really pushing the cinematic approach after the whirlwind of criticism that their first outing received for not having anything substantial in that regard. As a Star Wars fan, it's easy to get excited at a trailer like this, but it's important to remember that the onus is still on DICE and EA to deliver. Cautious optimism is advised.
However, if you are already convinced by what you see, pre-orders for the game are open on all platforms and doing so will grant you access to the game's Beta a few days early. Also pre-ordering the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition will get you a 3-day early unlock of the main game, beginning on November 14th.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 17th, 2017.
