WATCH: Stylish side-scrolling Action-RPG/Shoot ’em Up, Drifting Lands coming out of Early Access next month

Circumventing genre conventions to bring a new kind of game.

Drifting Lands is an Action-RPG/Shmup (Shoot 'Em Up) hybrid that released into Steam's Early Access program back in January from developer Alkemi. The game takes core mechanics from the likes of Diablo and Torchlight and meshes them with the skill and difficulty that you get from traditional Shmups to create an experience quite unlike any currently available on the market. The developers released the game's final Early Access update yesterday alongside the announcement that the game will release in full on June 5th, 2017.

Accompanying the announcement is an all-new trailer. Check it out.

Drifting Lands tells the story of a shattered world with totalitarian corporations fighting to control and exploit the world's last natural resources. Players take on the role of a new member in a caravan of outlaws, fighting to disrupt the efforts of the evil corporations.

Drifting Lands has been in development for more than three years with playable builds available as early as October of 2014. It's been a long journey, but after a short and fruitful Early Access run, Drifting Lands will be available in full next month.
