Watch the first teaser for HBO’s sci-fi Western series Westworld

Hannibal Lecter runs a theme park? This should be fun.

If you thought sci-fi Westerns were a dead genre, they aren't. Novelist, director and screenwriter Michael Crichton's 1973 film 'Westworld' is getting a rebirth of sorts on HBO next year and it's packed with potential. Going by the same title, HBO aired the first official trailer for upcoming series during the Season 2 finale of 'True Detective'.

Crichton is best known for Jurassic Park, you know, the dinosaur park that terrorizes its attendees with its "attractions" (read as: dinosaurs) that have gone rogue. Westworld picks up in a similar vein as Jurassic Park, the show is described as "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin," but it really focuses in on the futuristic theme park called Westworld.

Yep, a futuristic theme park and written by Michael Crichton – you can probably expect some 'attractions' to show you the chaos theory (at the cost of a theme park and some lives)

The show stars Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman.
