[Watch] The first trailer for Pokemon reboot/remake ‘I Choose You’ has released

In celebration of the recently passed 20th anniversary for Pokémon, the trailer for the upcoming Pokémon movie has dropped! The film, titled Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You, celebrates the franchise by taking us back in time to when Ash first started his adventure and partnered up with Pikachu.

It's unclear if 'I Choose You' will recap all of the Indigo League or if it will simply tie into the film series, which has been somewhat separate from the anime series. The trailer is in Japanese, but translations from RocketNews reveal that the trailer opens up with an unknown man (possibly Professor Oak) saying “There’s sort of a problem with this leftover Pokémon.”

Ash replies, "Please, let me have him” and the unknown man reluctantly agrees, saying, “See, his name is Pikachu…”

From there on out, we revisit how Pikachu and Ash weren't the best of buddies in the very beginning. In fact, Pikachu pretty much hated Ash. Fortunately, we know that Ash and Pikachu bond and become the best of pals.

The funny thing is, we still know what Pikachu is saying in the trail – even if it's in Japanese.

Pokemon the Movie 20 – I Choose You premiers in Japanese theaters on July 15.
