The Last Guardian has been in development for nearly a decade and has been a pretty big joke for gamers even though PlayStation fans are really excited for it. Many would predict that it would be shown off at E3 for many years, so much so it became a joke because it never happened! After its reveal, the developers went silent on it for many years until they showed up at E3 2015 to surprise fans! We got our first look at the game since 2009 and a release window of 2016!
Many fans initially thought the game was quietly canceled and it would never see the light of day but it is coming! We were supposed to have played the game by now as it was set to release in October, but the game received a slight delay and is now coming in December. Some fans have joked that it'll never actually come out but the game recently went gold and people changed their tone!
Today, Geoff Keighley posted a couple tweets showing the first ever retail copy of the game, box and disc included. The copy was unboxed by developer Fumito Udea and everyone celebrated the long-awaited completion of the game! You can view the tweets below.
