Watch: The never-before-seen auditions for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Somewhere, in a galaxy far, far away, there's a "Hamm Solo."

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens just weeks away from its highly anticipated theatrical release, Saturday Night Live revealed never-before-seen footage of the film's audition process.

Who knew that Jon Hamm once auditioned to play "Hamm Solo"? Or that even John Boyega originally laughed at the idea of a black stormtrooper? The sketch is filled with some hilarious screen tests from some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Michael Buble attempting to make "wookie" with Daisy Ridley; Emma Stone referencing the controversy that surrounded her being cast as a woman with Asian heritage in "Aloha"; and impressions of George Lucas (cast member Bobby Moynihan), David Beckham (cast member Taran Killam), and more.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18th.
