Star Wars Celebration, a weekend-long event in which fans from across the galaxy gather to celebrate all things Star Wars kicks off today. And what better way to start than with an opening panel featuring Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
It's not known exactly what the panel will cover, but it is widely speculated that a new trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens will be shown at some point. You'll be able to watch it live below; the panel begins at 10:00am Pacific Time (1:00pm Eastern Time).
It's believed that the trailer will be the same one that's shown before Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron, which hits theaters on May 1 in the U.S. Rumored details for the new trailer were leaked earlier this week.
Also making its debut at Star Wars Celebration is Electronic Arts' new game Star Wars: Battlefront. Developed by DICE, Star Wars: Battlefront is the newest installment in the iconic multiplayer shooter franchise set in the Star Wars universe. At the event, fans will be able to see the debut trailer during the April 17th panel, as well as gameplay in a behind-closed-doors environment on the show floor.
Star Wars: Battlefront will be coming this holiday season to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Its launch will coincide with release of the new film, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, which will hit theaters December 18, 2015.
In addition to today's panel, Disney and Verizon have partnered to livestream "highlights and more than 30 hours of exclusive video content" from Star Wars Celebration over the weekend.
