Back in April, The X-Files was officially picked back up for an 11th season, after making an abbreviated return in 2016. With the cliffhanger ending Season 10 concluded with as well as barely touching upon key characters like The Smoking Man, it seemed only a matter of time before Fox stepped up to renew the series. It took longer than many fans would have liked, but it is coming back in 2018, and during NYCC 2017, we got our first look at what to expect.
Here's the trailer:
The trailer gives a glimpse at the return of several recurring themes such as The Smoking Man (William B. Davis) plotting a deeper end-of-the-world scheme behind the scenes or Assistant Director Skinner finding himself caught between two sides. The show had tried to evolve these characters over the course of the series' original run, but ultimately these two roles are the angles that drove the best drama.
There isn't a release date in sight yet for Season 11 of The X-Files, but we expect to hear more soon.
