11 bit studios, the developer that made the survival simulator This War of Mine has released a trailer for their upcoming city-building game Frostpunk. Par for the course with 11 bit studios, we can probably expect the game to be brutal and slightly depressing.
Unlike other city-builders, Frostpunk has players making heavy decisions to keep citizens alive in the tundra wasteland. Speaking to Eurogamer, senior lead designer Jakub Stokalski spoke about the tone of Frostpunk. "If you look at references for survival in extreme environments, things like Amazon expeditions and crashes of planes in deep mountains where people didn't have anything to eat and they have to eat something… It gets pretty grim.'
Weather isn't the only obstacle, however. There's apparently more layers to the game that hasn't been detailed as of yet, but 11 bit studios plans to show off gameplay of Frostpunk in June. The game's release is scheduled later this year on PC.
