[Watch] Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ live-action prequel film gets new trailer

An experiment in game advertising for sure...

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands just wrapped up a closed beta this weekend, and while gamers are digesting everything it had to offer, Ubisoft is getting ready to launch their next piece of marketing for the upcoming open-world 3rd-person shooter. War Within The Cartel is a live-action prequel short that explores the inside of the Santa Blanca drug cartel, which is controlled by its ruthless leader, El Sueño.

The premise of the film deals with the aftermath of an attack on the Santa Blanca compound, and the cartel's leadership comes to the conclusion that there is a traitor in their midst. It is up to El Muro (Head of Security), El Yayo (Head of Production), Nidia Flores (Head of Operations), and El Cardenal (Head of Influence) to snuff out the traitor and silence them for good.

The film will also showcase El Sueño's rise to power, giving players a bit of added context into the world around them. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands: War Within the Cartel will debut on the Ubisoft Twitch channel on February 16th before immediately releasing on Amazon Prime after that.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands (the game) releases on March 7th, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
