[Watch] XCOM-like Shock Tactics delivers new tactical gameplay trailer

Developer Point Blank Games makes no bones about the fact that their upcoming Turn-Based Strategy game, Shock Tactics bears more than a passing resemblance to XCOM. But Shock Tactics aims to mix things up by emphasizing planned aggression, accelerating the pace of battle. As you can see from the trailer above, aggression doesn't equal dumbed down, as players will still have to think about their moves before executing them carefully.

In Shock Tactics, players are cast in the roles of mercenaries who are sent to explore an alien planetĀ as part of the first wave of Free Space Pioneers. Naturally, things don't go as smoothly as planned, and the mercenaries are forced to contend with the hostile denizens of the planet as well as a few space pirates and troops from theĀ Imperial Consortium. As you make your way through the game, you will set up dig sites and outposts that will serve as ways for you to uncover the many secrets the world holds.

Shock Tactics releases exclusively on PC sometime this year.
