Developer WayForward Technologies has turned to Kickstarter to crowdfund Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, a high-definition version of the platforming series.
WayForward needs $400,000 to make the project happen, and so far it's raised over $50,000. The campaign ends October 4.
The company says the title is "already confirmed" for Wii U, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. WayForward plans to divide Half-Genie Hero's story into chapters, and the target funds will provide enough for an opening, three chapters, and a conclusion (similar to other Shantae games, it says). Stretch goals will add extra content, playable characters, and more.
WayForward is already releasing a new entry called Shantae and the Pirate's Curse for Nintendo 3DS this winter. It also developed the recent DuckTales: Remastered.
