Publisher Warner Bros. is making big claims when it comes to its underappreciated Lego game series.
"Lego is the second biggest toy company and the ninth biggest video games franchise in the world, so there is good room for more growth in our sector," Spencer Crossley, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment's U.K. sales and marketing director, told MCV.
"Since the start of 2013, WBIE has sold 1.6 million Lego games," he said. "Lego is currently the second biggest game franchise in 2014 year-to-date, in terms of units sold, with 420,200 units. Another strong week could see the Lego game franchise take the number one franchise spot."
The Lego games are popular across a broad demographic. They've spanned popular franchises such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and The Hobbit, due in April on consoles, handhelds, and PC.
“We have many exciting projects planned within our Lego strategy and will be embracing digital innovation, as well as new brands, in the future.”
