Dragon Age Executive Producer Mark Darrah wants to know if you’d be interested in playing “a Dragon Age Tactics game."
Darrah posed the question in a recent Twitter poll, which puts the idea roughly one rung above rumor territory. At the time of writing, 48 percent of respondents are in favor of a potential Dragon Age Tactics, 23 percent would prefer it release on PC, 22 percent are against the idea entirely and seven percent would prefer if it were a mobile release.
Darrah went on to answer a number of inquiries fans had regarding the nature of the purely hypothetical game. For starters, by tactics, Darrah means “as in a game like Fire Emblem or XCom.”
It would be turn-based, he added, and though likely couched in Dragon Age canon, the game would not be a direct sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition. “This would be in addition to the main series line as opposed to instead of,” he clarified.
It seems there is also plenty of room for inspiration. Darrah noted that a tactical Dragon Age might include romantic elements similar to those seen in Fire Emblem: Fates. He also nodded at Valkyria Chronicles, calling it “an excellent game with a cool art style.”
Take all of this with a grain of salt. A single Twitter poll from a historically emphatic producer is hardly an announcement. With that said, there is clear interest in the idea of a tactical Dragon Age, both from players and Darrah himself, so it’s worth remembering as we creep closer to event season.
