We won’t be hearing about new games from Bethesda ‘anytime soon’

It appears as though Bethesda's director is rescinding on previous statements hinting at three 'big and crazy' projects in development at the studio. Last month Bethesda's director Todd Howard spoke at the 2016 DICE Summit teasing future projects that the studio is working on.

"We have three longer-term projects we're doing that are all…we'll talk about them at a much future date," said Howard at the time. "But they're different than anything we've done before while also being a Bethesda-style game; big and crazy. But in many ways different than things we've done before."

A recent interview has revealed that Howard wishes he hadn't specified a number of projects and that the projects could be 'bigger or smaller' than fans anticipate.

"I should have never said a number because we have so many things. You could add it up in different ways," Howard said to GI.biz (via GameSpot). "You could say it's bigger or smaller. They're a long way off. I think the larger point was, no one should expect to hear about those [games] anytime soon. We always overlap projects. We just have more going on now than we had before."

Howard was careful not to specify what the developers are working on, but with the addition of a Montreal studio the company feels confident in trying "some new things" — even virtual reality support.

"We're exploring some things [in VR]. We'll see where that heads," explained Howard. "We don't want to talk about it quite yet until we've figured some things out. "

Whatever Bethesda is working on… hopefully it has to do with Elder Scrolls 6.
