Weekly wrap-up 5/25/2012

Friday is here, which means it's time to get ready for the weekend. It's also time to play and read about some video games. Miss anything this week on GameZone? If so, check it out here on our weekly rundown of reviews, previews, and features from the past seven days.

Reviews

Battleship: The Video Game review (Xbox 360, PS3)

Move it along, folks. Nothing to see here. Just another poor movie/video game tie-in.

Starhawk review (PS3)

This PlayStation 3 exclusive delivers a satisfying multiplayer shooter thrill that's sure to please run-and-gun action gamers.

TERA review (PC)

The latest MMO to hit the scene is also a largely enjoyable entry in the genre, featuring engrossing fast-paced combat that's different from other MMOs.

Dragon’s Lair review (XBLA)

Dirk the Daring returns … for the billionth time. If you're a nostalgic fan, check this one out. If not, carry on.

Glitch review (PC)

Developer Tiny Speck presents an MMO that's unlike any other, relying on charm and quirkiness instead of the usual genre tropes, and properly delivering an enjoyable, offbeat experience.

Diablo III review (PC)

It's been a long time since we played Diablo II, and now that the third entry in the series has launched, we can honestly say the wait was well worth it.

Indie Game: The Movie review (Movies)

This tale about a couple of indie devs manages to deliver a compelling story and an emotional journey through the smaller spectrum of the video game industry.

The Dictator review (Movies)

Forget all of those unfunny moments in this film's trailer. The Dictator is a great comedy flick worth watching.

Battleship review (Movies)

Sadly, this board game-based movie isn't a winner … but we all expected that, right?

Game of Thrones: 'The Prince of Winterfell' recap and review (TV)

The latest episode of Game of Thrones is decent, but it has a few hitches, and given how awesome the show has been so far, those hitches are far too noticeable.

Previews

LittleBigPlanet Karting preview

GameZone gets some hands-on time with Sony's upcoming kart racer, and we're pretty excited to see the final product.

First look: Call of Duty: Black Ops II gameplay footage

Is Activision's upcoming military shooter going to be more of the same? After checking it out for ourselves, we certainly don't think so.

First look: God of War: Ascension multiplayer

After getting a quick look at the multiplayer in Kratos' upcoming adventure, we're curious to see and learn more about it.

GZ Originals

Medal of Honor Warfighter: 2012 first-person shooter king-to-be

Warfighter has what it takes to be the year's top FPS. It probably won't outsell Black Ops II, but that doesn't mean it won't be better.

Is the 3D platformer dead?

With 3D platforming experiences taking a massive backseat to 2D platformers, it's obvious that the genre isn't what it once was in terms of popularity.
