This Sunday’s upcoming season finale of HBO’s Westworld is going to be a big one. The 10th episode will run for approximately 90 minutes and will answer many of the lingering questions remaining on the show.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy say the final two episodes of season one will pay off for fans when it comes to figuring out some the key plot points thus far.
No spoilers here, but if you haven’t caught last night’s 9th episode “The Well-Tempered Clavier,” they certainly were NOT kidding about that statement.
Nolan goes on to say:
“We weren’t interested in spinning out mysteries with no answers in sight,” he says. “Our goal is to tell an ambitious story in season-long chapters, each with a distinct feel and theme.”
“Most of the questions viewers have will be resolved in the final episodes,” remarks Lisa Joy. “Except for the most important one: What happens next.”
The final episode is titled “The Bicameral Mind,” and will be directed by Nolan himself, who also directed the pilot.
Westworld is certainly a gem in this great age of television we’re currently in, even drawing some inspiration from video games. The only bad news is while season two has already been greenlit, we probably won’t see it until 2018.
Meantime, check out a brief preview below of what’s to come in the season finale.
