Tactial Strategy-RPG Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden gets Gameplay Trailer, opens up Pre-Orders

Recently announced turn-based RPG Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden has received a new trailer and got its price revealed together with opening up Pre-orders. The game has no definite release date as of now but is planned to come out later this year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Check out the new gameplay trailer below!

Late February this year, Norwegian publisher Fancom unveiled Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. A tactical strategy-RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world where remaining humans live and fight with mutated and intelligent animals. The CG announcement trailer, while being nicely done, did not a whole lot more than set up the interesting world and humanoid duck and boar companions. No gameplay sadly.

This changes with today’s new gameplay trailer, in which we get a great early look at how the actual game will look and play. And we like what see. A very atmospheric and interesting world, with beautifully realized levels, tactical strategic gameplay we know from X-COM games with a nice dose of stealth mechanics. We also get a first look at the cast of protagonists Selma, Dux and Bormin, each with their own special abilities. Our sole human party member has Stoneskin, likely boosting her defenses and the other two animal companions Dux the mutated duck and Bormin the boar (ain’t those cute names), with former having a versatile crossbow and later being a heavy-type sporting explosive weaponry and hard-hitting close-quarters moves.

The developers behind this promising tactical  RPG are the folks at Swedish indie studio The Bearded Ladies. The name might not ring a bell since this is the first project of the studio but the talent inside should pique your interest. Veterans of the games industry who previously worked on the Hitman games and Ulf Andersson from Payday fame are filling Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden with confidence and experience.

If this excited you enough, you’ll be pleased to learn that you can head to the game’s website and pre-order Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden right now. The two versions available are a Standard Edition for $34.99 containing the base game and 3-day early access, while the Deluxe Edition adds various goodies in form of an artbook, soundtrack and beta access for a cool $54.99.
