What Assassin’s Creed 4’s ‘Golden Age of Piracy’ really means

The Assassin's Creed games have always been designed with real history in mind. For Assassin's Creed 3, we had the American Revolution as the backdrop. The newest entry in Ubisoft's series, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag takes into the Golden Age of Piracy, when men of fortune sought riches and legendary pirates like Blackbeard ruled the high seas. Sound intriguing? Well, Ubisoft has released a brand new trailer for Black Flag to give you an even more in-depth look at the time period. In the video, you'll learn about the events of this period and get a taste for the living conditions that one might have suffered through, perhaps leading them into a life of piracy.

As for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, it tells the story of Edward Kenway, a young British man who from privateering for the Royal Navy into piracy as the war between the major Empires come to an end. In the game, Edward finds himself in the middle of an ancient war between Assassins and Templars.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is due out on Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Wii U, PC, and other next generation consoles (aka the next Xbox). It will be available on October 29, 2013.
