Today, on the 19th of September, 2012, Apple said "f**k you" to Google Maps. Not really, but they did release their iOS 6 update for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, 5th and 4th gen of iPod touch, the New iPad, and the iPad 2. The iPhone 5 will launch with iOS 6. iOS 6 comes with a ton of new features, but only the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S will use all of them.
These features include:
- Dedicated signatures for all email accounts
- Facebook integration
- FaceTime over cellular
- Flyover
- Offline Reading List
- Panorama
- Passbook
- Turn-by-Turn navigation
- Shared Photo Streams
- Siri updates
- and VIP inbox
Some questions you might have are 'how much space does the iOS 6 update require?' and 'how long does the update take?' Attached to a wi-fi network, the calculated time to completion that my iPhone gave me was 45 minutes, but it did fluctuate during the update. I'd tell you how long it really took, but it's still updated as we speak. The update also requires 2.5 GB of space on your phone. I deleted a few apps, along with 7 GB worth of pictures and videos — I have a cute kid… what can I say?
So besides making this post, I am rewatching Star Trek: Voyager on Netflix and watching my friends play Borderlands 2. What did you do while you were helplessly watching your iPhone update? God… we are so pathetic…
