Last year in May we saw the highly anticipated dinosaur survival game, The Stomping Land, hit Steam Early Access. The game costs $25 to purchase and play in Early Access, unfortunately the game was removed from the program (then reinstated) after months of silence from the developer.
Since the game has returned to Steam there have been various updates, little updates, to the game. The original radio silence from the developer was because they were 'switching game engines.' At this point, community trust has been razed.
What's going on with The Stomping Land right now? I wish there was good news.
The lead artist and modeler, Vlad took to the game's forums to announce his temporary resignation from the game due to silence and lack of payment from the developer:
Hello everybody!
I'm sad to say this but I have to temporarily freeze all my work for TSL project. More than a month has passed since the day when I received the last reply from Jig. I've sent him 5 messages and haven't got any single reply. I don't know, probably he has some serious reasons to ignore me (and whole community) but to my mind there are no excuses for such behavior. Not to mention the fact that Jig owes me the money for the latest model, he's put me in a very difficult situation because now I will have to pay our texture artist for his work from my own pocket. If this silence continues I will stop my participation in TSL and start taking the necessary measures to cover my expenses (sell the models for example).
Even more recently the game was noted to have seen a 2.6mb patch. This should be good news, but a patch that size would not contain anything exciting and other Steam users mentioned seeing an updated if the same size hitting other games. The update could possibly have come from Steam itself as opposed to the developer.
Those that have invested their time and money are calling for others to report the game as fraudulent on the Steam page
TL;DR: Still no updates to the game. Lead artist/modeler quits due to lack of communication (30+ days) and lack of payment.
What do you think is going on?
