When can you preload Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls?

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, the eagerly awaited expansion, isn't due for release on PC until March, but should "all go well" these next few days, you might be able to predownload the expansion this month.

"The exact date that the predownload will start is still TBD, but we're targeting this month if all goes well," Blizzard community manager Stephany Johnson said on the forums. Johnson noted that the download will begin automatically, meaning you shouldn't need to jump through hoops to predownload it.

"Similar to what we've done with other games, the pre-expansion patch (2.0.1) will contain all of the expansion data that's on the normal disc," Johnson explained. "So, for players who don't predownload, they'll basically get everything that's available whenever they patch up to 2.0.1."

Just because you predownload the expansion though, doesn't mean you will be able to access the content early. The Crusader class, Act 5, and Adventure Mode won't be playable until launch on March 25th. And only players who have actually purchased the expansion will be able to access them.

The standard edition of Reaper of Souls can be purchased for $39.99 digitally. However, players can opt for the $59.99 digital deluxe edition which includes three additional character slots, a Spectral Hound minion, exclusive aesthetics for your gear, an in-game Treasure Goblin companion pet for World of Warcraft, and a variety of Crusader-themed Battle.net portraits and Malthaeil-themed decals for StarCraft 2.
