Where the Water Tastes Like Wine is a trippy ride through America

With time vampires like Fallout 4 and multiplayer heavy games like Star Wars Battlefront holding a protracted siege on players’ consoles lately, it’s nice to have some more contained and narrative driven projects coming up to look forward to.

The first game out of Johnnemann Nordhagen’s new Dim Bulb Games venture, Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, takes on American folk tales, roots music and the classic American road trip novel.

From their main site, “Where the Water Tastes Like Wine is a game about traveling, exploration, and telling stories, set in a dreamlike and fantastical American landscape. In the game, you’ll have the chance to freely explore the world, seek out landmarks and cities, meet other travelers and hear their stories, and maybe even tell stories of your own.”

Kellan Jett’s art looks fantastic and lends a lot of provocative interest to the game and reflects heavily on the American culture that’s inspired it.

While the project does look to be in its early stages, what the Dim Bulb team has offered up so far is interesting and looks to be a completely different pace from the stuff that’s been dominating gaming lately.
