Who lives in a pineapple under the Wii U? SpongeBob SquarePants!

In announcing a lineup of six upcoming Wii U titles, Activision has revealed SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge, a new co-op action/platformer game based on Nickelodeon's popular kids show.

The game features an original story in which Sheldon J. Plankton and his army of evil robots have destroyed the Krusty Krab and stolen the safe that houses the famous Krabby Patty formula. You'll join SpongeBob and gang on a hunt to search for the hidden keys to the safe. Gameplay will blend platforming, action and puzzle-solving, while referencing the characters and humor from the Nickelodeon TV series.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge is due out this fall for Wii U, Wii, 3DS, DS, and other platforms as well. While other systems will only feature four-player multiplayer, the Wii U version will allow up to five people locally (4 Wii Remotes and 1 GamePad).

This is the second Nickelodeon and Activision game announced for a Nintendo platform. Last week, the duo announced a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sidescrolling brawler for Wii and 3DS.
