Why Nintendo all-star Shigeru Miyamoto loved Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Shigeru Miyamoto, the visionary behind many of Nintendo’s mainline IP, was thoroughly impressed with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Miyamoto explained that he was a huge fan of the original Star Wars movies. But like many fans, he became less interested in the series as the prequels progressed and the IP became more reliant on CGI visuals.

When Star Wars: The Force Awakens was revealed, Miyamoto expected its creators to “barely meet” the challenge of carrying the storied franchise. However, also like many fans, he was “very impressed” with the end result.

“As a creator, I really respected their ability to take on the challenge and bring back some of the feelings that people had the first time they watched the movies,” Miyamoto said. “I really liked that some of those actors from Episode IV came back after all these years, and you can see how they had aged.

As a fan, it was a really great movie.”
