Ubisof'ts Watch Dogs — which was already delayed once before — has been delayed again, but this time only the Wii U version. Earlier today, Ubisoft confirmed that the Wii U version is still coming, but "at a later date" than the other versions which are expected to release some time between April and June of this year. But why, exactly?
During Ubisoft's call to investors, company CEO Yves Guillemo didn't get into specifics; however, we reached out to Ubisoft for further explanation and here's what they said:
"We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team's resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft."
What does that mean exactly? Sadly, Ubisoft couldn't further elaborate, but it leaves it open to speculation. Perhaps the other versions of the game aren't quite ready and to prevent a further delay of those, Ubisoft thought it best to sacrifice the Wii U version. With the Wii U having the smallest install base of all the versions, Ubisoft would be smart to get it out on Xbox and PlayStation first rather than risk alienating the consumer even further by another delay. Again, this is just speculation, but it only makes sense to cater to the larger Xbox/PlayStation crowd.
