Wii U dev kits collecting dust because you didn’t buy one

Avalanche Studios — the developer behind Just Cause and Just Cause 2 — won't be making a game for the Wii U anytime soon.

In an interview with the Norwegian site Pressfire, Avalanche Studios founder and chief creative officer Christofer Sundberg painted a bleak picture for the studio's involvement with the Wii U. In short, he said that the company's Wii U dev kits have "collected dust."

Sundberg added, "It's a bit sad, because we wanted to do something. I think it's a cool platform, but right now it's not just up to us. We want the game to reach as many as possible."

When Sundberg was asked if the reason is that there's too few Wii U owners, he confirmed, "Yes, it actually is."

This is a shame. The Wii U is stuck in a vicious cycle, and Nintendo has no one to blame but themselves. Nintendo marketed it poorly, and then had only a few titles release since its launch. The result? No one buys a Wii U because there's no games for it; third-party developers stop making games for the Wii U because not enough people own the console; and it goes on and on.

So if you were hoping for Just Cause 2 on the Wii U, you won't be getting it. Sorry.
