Wii U game releases for July 2014

Both the Xbox One and PS4 have a pretty quiet release schedule for July, but Nintendo is a company that has always sort of played by its own rules. Riding high off the success of Mario Kart 8, can Nintendo keep up the pace? Here's what we're looking at for July:

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition – July 2, 2014

Guacamelee! STCE is a Metroid-vania style action-platformer set in a magical Mexican-inspired world, drawing inspiration from traditional Mexican culture and folklore. Whereas the original Guacamelee! released back in 2013, the Super Turbo Championship Edition offers players an expanded version of the game by including more words to the title, an extra save slot, new costumes, creepy hanging dolls, two extra levels, new and improved enemies, another save slot, a new dimension-switching ability called “Shadow Swap,” chicken egg bombs, an NPC with an impossibly large head, and a power called INTENSO.

Armillo – July 3, 2014

Armillo is "the ultimate action puzzle rolling adventure game." It combines charming characters, varied environments, and fast-paced platforming gameplay. The game stars an armadillo named Armillo, who's capable of blasting off to space in order to travel from planet to planet. And joining him on his adventure is his little blue critter friends and his brother. So what's this game about? I'm not entirely sure, but I'm guessing it has something to do with an invasion of robotic Darkbots who pose a threat to the galaxy.

One Piece: Unlimited World RED – July 8, 2014

Released for Nintendo 3DS in Japan back in 2013, One Piece: Unlimited World RED sends you on a "wayfaring journey with fun-filled escapades, action-packed battles and powerful comrades in a whole new never-before-seen scenario." In addition to a brand new story campaign set on the high seas, One Piece: Unlimited World RED also brings a Coliseum Mode which will resemble the latest episodes of One Piece and bring heart-pounding action and glory to the ring as pirates fight relentlessly to earn top rankings.
