Wii U tops PS4 and Xbox One Black Friday sales at Target

With so much focus on the PS4 and Xbox One bundles during the Black Friday sales this past weekend, the Wii U was kind of forgotten and left out  in many people's minds. One retailer, however, saw it beat out both PS4 and Xbox One in sales during the holiday rush.

Target issued a statement indicating that the Wii U was their biggest seller over Black Friday as it beat out both of its current generation competitiors. “Gaming consoles were popular in stores and online, including Nintendo Wii U, which was the top selling item on Target.com”. With so many options surrounding Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros and the newly released Super Mario Maker, which is also up for GOTY at The Game Awards), it's not entirely surprising that the Wii U took home the gold in sales this past weekend.

After the new year we are due for some more news surrounding Nintendo's newest system, currently codenamed NX. There isn't much known about the system as of yet as Nintendo has been extremely tight lipped with information. Either way, congratulations to Nintendo on its sales this weekend as it's been slowly building momentum with its most recent releases.
