Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. will have a bunch of exclusive new modes

Mario Party: Smash Edition

While the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. had one exclusive mode tied to it, Smash Run, the Wii U version will have a bunch of new and unique modes exclusive to it, as well as some returning modes that will be slightly altered.

The biggest addition among the new announcements was Smash Tour, which plays out like a traditional board game using your Miis as game pieces. While playing, you collect various characters to add to your roster, as well as power-ups to strengthen those characters. The more characters you pick up, the bigger your roster will be in the final battle.

However, Smash Tour isn't the only new addition to the Wii U version. Here are some new exclusive modes as well as some altered ones that you can look forward to when the game releases on November 21st.

  • Special Smash Mode: Players can customize battles with unique parameters.
  • Coin Battles: Players compete to collect coins from other players.
  • Stamina Matches: Players fight until their hit points reach zero.
  • Classic Mode: One or two players fight through a series of battles and advance as long as they survive. Many random events can shake things up, and players can adjust the intensity settings. The more difficult the game, the greater the rewards.
  • All-Star Mode: Like in the Nintendo 3DS version, opponents appear in chronological order. Only this time, the newest fighters appear before the older ones, and two players can battle through this mode together.
  • Event Mode: One or two players take on set character- and theme-based battles. Clearing stages helps players see the way forward.
