Wii U will require a launch day update for network services

The Nintendo Wii U is set to release on November 18, but prior to using most of the network services, you'll need to perform a system update.

Nintendo confirmed the update, which is said to add Miiverse, WIi U Chat, Nintendo TVii, and the Nintendo eShop, during the company's Nintendo Direct presentation.

Nintendo warns that the "very large" update could take a while to download depending on your Internet speed and traffic.

"I am sorry for your inconvenience, but I appreciate your understanding," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said. During the same presentation, Nintendo also detailed the Wii U user account and Nintendo Network features.
