For the past six months, I've been re-introduced to the world of tabletop games. Just off the top of my head, I've played Sushi Go!; Dead of Winter; Seven Wonders; Coup; One Night; Fluxx; Ascension; Betrayal at House on the Hill; and so many others. A large part of what's driving my current obsession are shows on YouTube, like Geek & Sundry's TableTop, with host Wil Wheaton.
I've been waiting for the announcement of 2015's International TableTop Day, and yesterday (in place of the weekly TableTop episode) Wil Wheaton announced the official date.
International TableTop Day will take place on April 11, 2015. What is International TableTop Day, you ask? It was founded three years ago so the world could celebrate tabletop games together. There are thousands of events all around the world, and in 2014, the day was celebrated through 3,000 events across 80 countries.
If you want to join in the festivities, visit tabletopday.com to make your own event or find an event near you. You can also join the conversation using the hashtag #tabletopday across social media. There's also an International TableTop Day 2015 Fan Contest, where you can submit a 1-minute video detailing your plans for the day. Three winners will get a TableTop Day 2015 game kit with exclusive, collectible tabletop gaming items valued at over $250. You can find details of the contest HERE.
While we won't be hosting an event in South Florida, we will be partaking in the festivities with our own group of friends and colleagues, and we'll keep you posted on the games we play and what we have planned.
