Will Smith to star in Bright, $90 million Netflix film about cops, orcs and fairies

Netflix has beaten out Warner Bros. for the rights to Bright, a new film starring Will Smith which will begin shooting this Summer.

In the film, Will Smith will play a human cop (I know, a stretch right?). His partner will be Joel Edgerton (Warrior) who will play an orc in the film. You see, Bright is based in a timeline where humans live with supernatural characters such as orcs and fairies. Assigned to a specialized unit of Supernatural Crime, Smith and Edgerton must find a magic wand that can be dangerous in the wrong hands.

According to the Verge, the film will be directed by David Ayer, who worked with Warner Bros just recently with Will Smith on Suicide Squad, so it's even more interesting that Netflix was able to outbid them for the rights. No exact release date has been announced, but the film will be adult oriented and rated R according to reports.

What are your thoughts on this? We've seen things like this film in the past with Men in Black, iRobot and Minority Report, but orcs and fairies brings a new take to the genre. Let us know your thoughts below.
