Will Super Smash Bros. Wii U feature Tekken characters?

Super Smash Bros. Wii U co-developer Namco Bandai is "not really sure" if characters from their Tekken franchise will appear in Nintendo's new upcoming mascot brawler.

Speaking to NowGamer, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada admitted, "That was one of the most requently asked questions" they received once Nintendo announced Namco was assisting with the project.

"Especially from abroad," he added.

"The fans, rather than asking about Tales or Gundam, or some of our other franchises," he explained, "the fans abroad saw Tekken as one of the key words and took off on that."

Despite the questions, Harada remains uncertain, explaining, "when thinking of the playerbase who is playing Smash Bros, maybe Tekken characters is something they wouldn’t want, so I’ve been pulling back on that a bit. But I don’t know."

One game and audience base he isn't unsure about is the Sony crowd. Sony recently announced that Tekken series regular Heihachi Mishima would be added to the growing roster of upcoming brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale which will release for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita later this year.

Will other Tekken stars be added to Super Smash Bros. Wii U? While I wouldn't mind a few more characters, game creator Masahiro Sakurai has already expressed more interest in "game balance" than expanding the current roster.
