Microsoft has been holding their Build conference in San Francisco over the past few days. During the event, Microsoft shared their vision of the future for their augemented reality headset, HoloLens and the name of the new default Windows 10 browser that will be replacing Internet Explorer.
We have known for a while now that the Xbox One and Microsoft's upcoming operating system (OS) Windows 10 will be intermingling. Microsoft will be seeing out their vision of "unified gaming" by allowing the Xbox One to stream directly to any Windows 10 device and allowing the two platforms (PC and Xbox One) to have cross-play abilities.
Knowing that the features exist and will eventually make their way into our hands is different from knowing when we will be able to utilize these features. With Windows 10 launching in July, you would expect that the Xbox One would have the new OS around the same time; this is not the case.
According to Paul Thorrot, an attendee of Microsoft's Build conference, Microsoft corporate vice president Joe Belfiore revealed that Windows 10 will be experiencing a staggered launch and arrive to non-PC platforms like the Xbox One and HoloLens "according to their own schedules later in 2015."
My guess is, with a summer release for the new OS, we can probably expect Windows 10 on the Xbox One around October or November.
