During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, the company announced a new species of Pikmin in the upcoming Wii U title Pikmin 3. The new Pikmin type has wings, meaning it can fly. And because Nintendo is oh-so-creative when it comes to naming techniques (Wii U anyone?), the new type is called the "Winged Pikmin."
"They fly and follow the player, and can carry items in the air as well," explained Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. "As you can imagine, they will be helpful in different ways."
Pikmin 3 still doesn't have a firm release date… because Nintendo hates us. Don't worry, it's coming in "just a few months," the company teased.
