Witcher 3 devs may reveal new game at E3 2016

My bets are on something related to Gwent.

CD Projekt Red has not been shy about the fact that they are putting The Witcher series on the backburner to pursue new endeavors. However, CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski has teased that there might be something coming that is related to The Witcher and it may be revealed at E3 next month.

During a brief interview with Eurogamer (via NeoGaf), Iwinski clarified that the E3 reveal that might happen will not be related to Cyberpunk 2077.

"It might happen that we will be at E3 and we will show something at E3, but I just want to make it clear it's not Cyberpunk. We still have a lot of work to do with Cyberpunk."

This new game will be "a new type of video game format previously unexplored by the studio,"  according to Iwinski.

Of course, the questioned remained on whether it was Witcher related. Iwinski didn't outright say no to this question, "Time will tell," he replied when asked. As for whether or not this game would be revealed at E3, Iwinski replied "We will see… Well, hopefully."

With The Witcher 3's meta Gwent Card game being big enough to get its own physical card deck, it's not hard to imagine that CD Projekt Red will be pursuing the meta game's success. The developers could easily create a mobile game based off of the in-game Gwent – making it a new game format for the studio to pursue, as well as Witcher related.

In addition to that, card games have become a recent hit in the industry – especially since Hearthstone got so many people addicted.
