The Witcher Netflix Series Now Has A Complete Pilot Script

Geralt takes another step closer to the small screen with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich completing The Witcher's pilot for Netflix.

The Netflix original Witcher series has been underway for a while now. Last we’d heard, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the writer on Netflix’s Daredevil and The Defenders, was also writing The Witcher. A recent Tweet from her implies that she has finished writing the pilot episode.

The pilot script is what they will show Netflix in hopes that they’ll greenlight its production. Once the pilot is made, they will decide if its good enough for a full series. There’s still quite a bit of steps involved, but with a robust source like The Witcher and a proven writer like Hissrich, we have high hopes.

In the video game world, CD Projekt Red suspects that they’ll make another game based on the series at some point in the future, though nothing is in production currently as they focus everything on Cyberpunk 2077.

There is a Polish TV series based on The Witcher, which even spawned a movie. They’re not… terrible. But they look very dated, even for its time in 2002. Okay, it’s pretty bad, but considering The Witcher didn’t get international praise until after The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, they did their best with what they had. With the rise of nerdom into the mainstream and Netflix being a powerhouse of quality television, it stands a much better chance today.
